A lot of folks heard about Kevin Doyle's trek to San Diego Comic Con. Walking over 600 miles in memory of his wife, and raising awareness about his fundraising made headlines across the country. A lot of people didn't know that he was also walking back to Northern California to finish his walk. I was invited to join the 501st Golden Gate Garrison and the Teren Clan Mandalorian Mercs to photograph the last leg of the trip: the span of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The images below show the spectacular turnout of caring Star Wars fans that wanted to pay tribute to Eileen Shige Doyle, as well as help raise awareness of Kevin's fundraising. At the North end of the bridge, Kevin spoke about his journey. It was apparent that he was struck by the caring of those that showed up to celebrate the end of his journey, one which started incredibly alone.
I'm proud to have been able to meet Kevin, as well as join him on that last mile. If you haven't visited his fundraising site yet, please do. The cause is noble, and the Force is strong in this one. For those of us that went, Eileen won't be forgotten, and neither will Kevin. Thank you for inspiring us all, Mr. Doyle. Your contributions will also ensure that Eileen and Kevin's legacy lives on.
